PT. Alform Website
Context
This website was created for PT. Alform to renew the old website. PT. Alform is a company that manufactures and supplies plastic trays for clients through the vacuum forming method. This project takes a different approach from the Topgear Tires website as it is a redesign and not a website from scratch. It is made by Figma, Nicepage.
Tools Used
Requirements
- Support for mobile devices
- New & simple style
- Language selector (English & Indonesian)
- Small file size, fast & responsive
Current User Flow
The image above shows the current user flow of the website from entry to finish. As we can see, there are a few problems of the user flow:
- Order & Contact Us could confuse the customer
- Products page leads directly to food & beverage
- Capabilities & Products could have the same meaning
User Tasks
I decided to run a tree test using Optimal Workshop based on the current website's layout. A tree test is when you display a website's layout and give tasks. According to the tasks, the participant has to determine the correct location of the task's goal.
Task 1:
You're a food company looking for suppliers for plastic trays. You stumble upon this website and you're interested in this company's website. You want to inquire about the products, where would you go for this?
Task 2:
You now decide to place an order right away instead. Where do you go to place the order?
Task Results
The results of the tree test are displayed in the image above. A few points could be made from the results of the tree test:
- Most users go to food & beverage for the first task, therefore a contact link should be placed in each products' pages.
- For task 2, most users would go to the order page to order a product, this is misleading as it is the contact us page to request an order.
- However, the order page shows how to order the item. We can solve this issue by merging the contact us and the order page.
User Tasks 2
I decided to rerun the tree test using Optimal Workshop based on the previous results. This version of the sitemap is much simpler and should work better for users as it uses the answers given by the respondents.
Task 1:
You're a food company looking for suppliers for plastic trays. You stumble upon this website and you're interested in this company's website. You want to inquire about the products, where would you go for this?
Task 2:
You now decide to place an order right away instead. Where do you go to place the order?
Task 2 Results
The results of the tree test are displayed in the image above. A few points could be made from the results of the tree test:
- Most users go to food & beverage for the first task, therefore a contact link should be placed in each products' pages.
- For task 2, most users would go to the order page to order a product, this is misleading as it is the contact us page to request an order.
- However, the order page shows how to order the item. We can solve this issue by merging the contact us and the order page.
